King's Day

Today was King's Day in Amsterdam.  It was absolutely insane! It is a day where they celebrate the Queens or Kings of the Netherlands.  It is basically just a drunken free for all.  Everyone wears orange on this day so we all got new t-shirts for it.  We went and saw Dad's friend Christophe play with his band in one of the parks.  We also got to see some other bands in the park play after him.  Then we went for a walk through Vondel Park and up to the city center.

The city center was absolutely insane!  There were so many people that we could hardly walk.  The canals were also packed with boats.  The boats had people dancing and were playing loud music.  It was really interesting to see all the different costumes that people were wearing on the boats.  There was also garbage EVERYWHERE.  The garbage cans were so full that nothing else could fit in them so people just started throwing empty beer cans on the ground.  The garbage really grossed me out.  Over all we had a really fun time on King's day, but we are super tired now!
